The First Step

Money. It’s the one thing that consumes me about twice a month. There’s nothing else that bothers me more than not having control over money matters. How about you? Sometimes the hardest part is the first step.

Dave Ramsey’s 7 Baby Steps

the first step- dave ramsey's 7 baby steps

Step 1: Save $1000

Step 2: Pay off debt
Step 3: 3-6 month fund
Step 4: Invest
Step 5: College
Step 6: Pay off house
Step 7: Give

Back in 1998, we accomplished step 1 and 2, and step 3 happened a bit later. I can’t remember when, as we’ve had to do work on that step a few times. We’ve been contributing to step 4 and 5 for a long time now, and finally we are pushing towards  step 6.

We’ve had setbacks and had to restart our plan at times, but the path is still being followed, no matter the zigs and zags along the way.

I must say that step seems out of place, as that piece has always been part of the puzzle, even in hard times – especially in hard times. I feel it’s necessary to put into perspective that we are so much better off than many people in the world and I can’t eat a steak without sharing it.

There are a series of baby steps to starting your business as well. While the first step for managing your money with the Dave Ramsey system is to save $1000, the first step to start your business is figuring out where to begin – what to focus on! My Life Purpose Challenge can help. I’m excited about helping you take the first step!
