Facebook recently gave the ability for your profile video to run automatically on original posts from your personal profile.

Facebook has introduced a feature (Facebook Profile Videos) that lets you use short videos clips as your profile picture, giving you the ability to liven up your Facebook’s profile page a little for when people visit. The moving profile pictures can also be used temporarily, so you could use them to show you blowing out candles on a cake on your birthday, or cheering on your team during sporting events.

HERE’S HOW YOU DO IT!

  1. Create a video up to 7 seconds. Snapchat or Instagram Stories are great ways to time yourself, but I would suggest using your phone camera to re-record for higher quality.
  2. Save it on your phone. You cannot upload from your computer, only from your phone.
  3. You’ll be given the option to select a frame to be your still photo when the video isn’t running. Because of this, you may want to do a little editing with a video editor to get a nice photo of yourself into the video, and select that frame.
  4. Go practice and let me know if you’re having trouble. Post your struggles in our free social media classroom.
